献血活动

The 威尼斯人平台 partners with three blood banks throughout the academic calendar year for four annual blood drives (two per semester). 希望之城, LifeStream 和美国红十字会 come to campus at least twice a year for University blood drives.

This year we plan on donating even more so roll up your sleeves! Sign-ups for the blood drives take place in the Commons the week before the scheduled blood drive date so keep your eyes open for the next time the Blood Banks will be on campus. 整个捐赠过程大约需要60分钟(以上). 联系 the Volunteer Center for upcoming blood drive information. 最多拯救3条生命!

Volunteer Center collects a pre-set list of items before Thanksgiving break, 和 with the help of many students 和 organizations pack年龄 them 和 deliver baskets to low income families.

Each of the families that receive baskets belong to the Micah House after school program that partners closely with the 威尼斯人平台. 这些篮子是慷慨的捐赠.

每年 the University sponsors an end of the year donation drive for student moving out of their resident halls. 有两个领取日期, occurring the last week of the spring semester (following graduation) 和 the last week of May Term before summer break. Each resident hall will have designated areas 和 sign年龄 for students to drop off donations, 和 collection bags are h和ed out to each resident’s room weeks prior to donations being picked up.

当学年结束的时候, many students clear out their closets 和 wardrobes to get ready for summer. 把你不想要的东西捐给需要的人. Places like Goodwill, Angel's Closet, Salvation Army, 和 Family Service Association of Redl和s. Sponsored by the Office for Inclusion 和 Community (OIC), each year the Office of 社区服务学习 hosts several events in honor of MLK Day. 过去的几年里, the Office of 社区服务学习 has partnered with the student body to create 毯子 for Get On The Bus, a program that connects children with their incarcerated parents, 和 work with children’s programs to create a luminaires display on the evening of MLK Day.

每年, the CSL Office works with the Accounting department to offer a cross listed course that benefits both students 和 the community. Students enrolled in the 志愿所得税援助(五.I.T.A.) course learn valuable skills in how to properly file taxes as accountants, 而这门课的教授肯定了他们的工作. 社区成员, as well as students 和教师 benefit from having to pay a greatly reduced price for their taxes to be done for them correctly 和 easily. V.I.T.A. program starts in March 和 goes through every Monday afternoon until May.
